I have just placed the tag code onto my pages, however, I do not want to wait for the next day's traffic results to make sure that the tag is working properly. What should I do?
You can use the Privacy report test. Once the tag code has been inserted onto your pages and the pages have been placed online, you can check whether or not the tag is working correctly. For example:
with Internet Explorer 6: by going to View > Privacy report
with Internet Explorer 7: by going to Page > Web Page Privacy Policy
with Internet Explorer 8: by going to Safety > Web Page Privacy Policy
with Firefox: by going to Tools > Page information > Media tab
With Internet Explorer you can consult one of your site's pages containing the tag code.
Once you have connected to the page you should then open Internet Explorer's Privacy Report.
A window containing all of the elements of the page will be displayed. You will then see a line which represents our code and is similar to the following:
http://logxxxx.xxxx/hit.xiti?s=..........
If you cannot see this line, this means that there has been a problem with the implementation of the tag code.
What different points do I need to check?
Has the tag code been placed within the body of the page (between the <body> and </body> tags)?
Have the line breaks in the tag code been respected (the tag code is not spread over a single line)?
Has the JavaScript file (xtcore.js) been placed on-line?
Has the JavaScript call been modified (has www.mysite.com replaced with your domain name), and does it correspond to the correct location?
Have any special characters, such as apostrophes or inverted commas, been placed in the xtpage variable?
Is there a JavaScript error on the page which prevents the tag code from working properly?
If the call to our server is still not visible in the Privacy report, even after you have checked all of these points, please do not hesitate to contact our AT Internet Support centre department should you have any further questions.
